BeAPP
Who we are

The Belgian Association of Pharmaceutical Physicians (BeAPP) or Association belge des Médecins Pharmaceutiques (ABEMEP) or Belgische Vereniging van Farmaceutische Artsen (BEVEFA) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1972 by physicians employed in the Pharmaceutical Industry in Belgium.

Its bylaws were published in the Belgian Official Journal of 21 November 1974. Since then, BeAPP has made efforts to increase the awareness and recognition of the important role of physicians within the pharmaceutical industry.

Pharmaceutical Medicine is the medical and scientific discipline concerned with the discovery, development, evaluation, registration and monitoring of medicines for human use, as well as with the medical aspects of their commercialisation and this for the benefit of patients and the public health at large.

BeAPP has endeavoured to portray the image of this profession, as favourably as possible, not just towards other physicians but also towards regulatory and academic institutions. This task can in no way be considered to be accomplished and will need to be continued indefinitely. Many medical practitioners are still unaware of the important role played by their colleagues within the Pharmaceutical Industry in domains as diversified as basic research, clinical development, registration, medical information and pharmacovigilance.

It is the task of BeAPP to heighten awareness of the important role of physicians in the continued search for newer and better medicines for the benefit of all patients.
